Battle System
Basically, the way battle works now is different. Technology, distance, and timing is the most important aspect.
Preliminary:
How Combat Starts:
Conflicts - All Empires start with Neutral Diplomacy. This means that two neutral fleets cannot occupy the same area. If moved on, a conflict starts UNLESS you have a cruiser or higher class ship in a fleet. This does not mean war. A short battle will be fought and the winner survives. This is not the case if you are in Friendly diplomacy or higher.
Preliminary:
- All empires are able to station fleets at systems, and this comes into play later
- Empires may station fleets in the middle of space
- Empires may set up planetary defenses(Turrets, space stations, etc.)
- Nations gain their fleets by spending points, which they gain through expansion, or through RP, each applies to the two types of combat detailed below
How Combat Starts:
- After a war is started, the two parties look at a modified galaxy map, highlighting participating civilizations.
- Each party can make 3 moves each day, in order to make things fair and keep order.
- There are two methods, Light GM and Heavy GM. Light involves a system similar to the old RP combat, heavy involves Battleships Forever and the points system and is HIGHLY recommended.
- To make a move, each side has to show their forces movement on the map. The length of this line and the level of warp research the empire has bought determines the time to get there(In moves).
- When they get there, the invading side may(In the case of light) RP the combat, with us approving it(Just in case he gives himself a heavy advantage). In the case of heavy, the defending forces and attacking forces are evaluated and entered into a simulation, where the winner is decided by computer.
- Simply destroying the defending force is not enough to capture the planet. You must either bomb it to a wasteland, or send down ground forces. After invasion, you can RP results. (James Here, I might be able to allow BSF Ground Units to be made.)
- Any repercussions of a war are RPed, including surrender, treaties, etc.

It would be good if we could get feedback.
